Jovan, 9Plays a ½ Size Violin Total Duration of Learning: 3 Years Started at BVMS Since: December 2021 Jovan has been learning the violin from Vivienne and has been refining some violin technique at a more intermediate level. Adora, 9Plays a 3/4 Size Belcanto Violins BV7.7 Series Total Duration of Learning: About 3+ years Started at BVMS Since: April 2020 Adora is at an intermediate level of learning and is in the midst of preparing for her Grade 5 ABRSM Examinations. She has been involved in the latest 5th Let Petit Performers’ Festival and World Strings Day where she was awarded a Silver Placing. She has corrected most of the technical errors that were not worked out when she was at a beginner level with her previous school and we are looking forward to a higher level of learning with her as she expresses much musicality in her playing. Frances, 13Plays a 4/4 BV 7.5 Violin Total Duration of Learning: 2+ years Started at BVMS Since: January 2019 Frances started as a began her violin journey with Vivienne during her PSLE year. She truly loves the violin and this year is embarking on her Grade 6 ABRSM Examinations. This month she had also joined the 4th Le Petit Performer’s Festival. She is moving steadily through the syllabus though also adjusting to Secondary School life. Other Favorite Things/Activities: Reading and Drawing Anime Manga, Swimming and Badminton, loves animals especially the Corgi Dog. |

Hannah, 6Playing on a 1/4 Size BV3 Series Special Edition Duration of Learning: 2+ years Started at BVMS Since: January 2019 Hannah is a bubbly and spritely 6 year old who loves music. She picks up tunes very quickly and started the violin when she was three. She has since progressed to an intermediate level of playing being able to play in the 2nd and 3rd and sometime even 5th position on the violin. Vivienne is also currently refining some of her tonal qualities further as she picked up the violin at a young age, before evaluating her to take the Grade 5 Examinations. She also recently participated in the 5th Le Petit Performers’ Festival and World Strings Day held on the same day. We are looking forward to more concerts from her. JadePlaying on a 4/4 Size Violin with Belcanto Violins BB7 Carbon Fibre Bow Duration of Learning: more than 10 years Started at BVMS Since: September 2019 Despite Jade’s very busy schedule as a Junior College Student and a National Athlete. She perseveres to always put her best foot forward at violin class or any learning goal that is set for her. Not only these but she is also a teacher at Belcanto Violins Music Studios. She has groomed her students such as Kellie in a short span of time in the core technical aspects of the violin which can be seen in their concert recordings. This piece is one of the pieces that she is working on to expand her confidence in taking new notable repertoire, working on the Vitali’s Chaconne by Ferdinand David as well as Sarasate’s Introduction and Tarantella. In December 2021 she participated in the 4th Le Petit Perfomers’ Festival where she played Beriot’s Concerto No. 7 Op. 76, technically a very challenging piece and memorized it in a short span of time. Suzanne, 8Playing on a 1/2 Size BV5 Series Special Edition Duration of Learning: 4 years Started at BVMS Since: 2018 Suzanne started at Belcanto Violins with Vivienne when she was very young however took several breaks due to her family’s travelling schedules. She is currently residing in the US where she has online only classes. Currently she is working on more advanced technique with the Dancla pieces with Vivienne. We look forward having her back at the end of the year. Other Favorite Things/Activities: Suzanne enjoys reading the Harry Potter novel series and watching her favorite shows on TV. LifeiPlaying on 4/4 Violin Duration of Learning: more than 10 years Started at BVMS Since: February 2021 Lifei’a field of study is in psychology and counselling. She studied the violin as a teenager but recently has the time to come back to complete and learn more. This is her second concert with BVMS since then she has improved on her Left hand technique tremendously and also her tonal concentration is more controlled. She has a good ear for intonation and has since also recently started teaching in 2022 in BVMS. She recently led the Violin 3s at the World Strings Day Event. Other Favorite Things/Activities: watercolor painting, watching Korean shows and YouTube videos, yoga, nature walks and loves travel. |

Leanne, 5Playing on a 1/10 Size BV1 Gloss Duration of Learning: Few Months Started at BVMS Since: 2022 Leanne has just started adhoc online classes with Vivienne and she has progressed steadily grasping the basic technical concepts of the Suzuki method. Here is a showcase of some pieces she has learnt where she has recorded it from her home in US. Other Favorite Things/Activities: Leanne enjoys watching TV with her cat. Her favorite show are Elena of Avalor and Descendants. She is an imaginative girl who loves drawing and playing her favorite toys with her elder sister. |

Hayley, 8Plays a 1/4 Size Violin and Belcanto Violins BB7 Carbon Fibre Bow in ½ Size Duration of Learning: 2 + years Started at BVMS Since: December 2020 In a short 6 weeks after Hayley left her previous music school who was preparing her for a Grade 2 Violin Exam, Vivienne prepared and completed her ABRSM Grade 3 Violin examination from scratch with a Distinction. As an added challenge for the examination, Vivienne taught her as the self-chosen 4th piece, Natalja Baklanova’s Concertino in D minor which was a long piece with a cadenza. She continues this challenge in the previous recital in April playing all three movements of Seitz Violin Concerto in G major. With some refining on her technical abilities and posture matters which was not previously properly taught at a beginner level, she is showcases in this concert, all her examination pieces for Grade 5 where she scored a Distinction as well in the same year as her Grade 3. Hayley also won 1st place in the Happy Music Festival Junior Category and a Silver Medal for the SMTA’s 4th Let Petit Performers’ Festival. Due to much improvements in technical ability and her commitment to the violin, she also recently recorded Beriot’s Violin Concerto No.9 for competition purposes only in a few short weeks of learning it. She is a very motivated and hardworking student who also plays the piano competitively. Hayley also represents her school strings in SYF competitions amongst the many piano and violin commitments she has. Other Favorite Things/Activities: Loves cheesecake, playing piano and tennis, enjoys reading Geronimo Stilton and Roald Dahl series of books. |

AdelePlays an Italian Violin Duration of Learning: 1 year Started at BVMS Since: April 2021 Adele began her violin journey at another music school but soon came over to BVMS as a student of Vivienne’s. She is very interested and passionate about the violin and now is learning the art of making Violins. She is a conscientious student and though work has been a very large hurdle for her to clear every week she has been able to record the concert we have here. We look forward to seeing more of her concerts and progress as she delves into more violin making projects. She also recently took Part in the World Strings Day. |

Aloise, 6Plays a 1/8 Size Violin Duration of Learning: few months Started at BVMS Since: April 2021 Aloise is a new student this year with Vivienne, she is very quick to pick up tunes and also very focused during lessons to get her notes correct and technique understood at her young age. As a very new student in training, she showcased some fundamentals techniques in the previous concert in April in Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Variations from Suzuki Book 1. In this concert after a few months Aloise has almost completed the whole Suzuki Book and also won a Silver Medal in the 4th Le Petit Performers’ Festival in December 2021. In this concert she picks her favourite Minuet to perform. She has also recently taken part again in 2022 playing a Grade 3 Examination piece “Romance” by Natalia Baklanova where she won another Silver Medal in the 5 th Le Petit Performers’ Festival and also participated in the World Strings Day Event with 20 other students from our studio. |

Tyler, 11Plays a 4/4 Size BV7.7 Violin Total Duration of Learning: about 3 years Started at BVMS Since: April 2021 Tyler is a fairly new student with Vivienne, he has a great interest in learning the violin and is determined to achieving better technique on the violin. He is still working on this as he had been learning for a long time before from another music school and will take some time to change over certain habits. He has a marked improvement in this concert with a better sense of intonation and bowing style. It is his busy PSLE year and we hope that he will be able to do more concerts and events. Jacie, 9Plays a 1/2 Size BV3 Series Matte Violin Total Duration of Learning: 4 years Started at BVMS Since: September 2019 Jacie loves playing the violin. She is always enthusiastic in trying to get something right in class and understand what’s right and wrong. This concert shows some improvement on intonation and she has achieved a good bowing and steady tone. She has also since participated in the 5th Le Petit Performers’ Festival and World Strings Day. As a Primary school student, she is in the Strings Ensemble CCA of her school where she just also participated as an SYF player. Tiffany, 12Plays a 4/4 Size BV7.5 Violin with a BB5 Series Octagonal Bow. Duration of Learning: about 6 years Started at BVMS Since: April 2019 For this concert, Tiffany has chosen to try out Accolay’s Violin Concerto which is gearing her to explore longer programmes such as the whole four movements of Handel’s Sonata No. 3 in F Major she had played in the previous concert to explore the acumens of Baroque composition and performance. Tiffany started with Vivienne about a Grade 4 standard, since then Tiffany has shown considerable improvement in technique and position and note recognition. Vivienne is trying to cultivate a more acute sense of musical awareness and styles through the pieces she is working on so that she is able to bring out her innermost voice to an audience. Tiffany also represented Belcanto Violins in a mini concert showcase of the piece “新春乐” and also played for the recent World Strings day event. Tiffany is also in her school’s orchestra. Other Favorite Things/Activities: Dance, Chinese Dance, reading fantasy novels, bakes with her mom in her free time and would like to be an architect when she grows up. |

Naomi, 6Plays a 1/2 Size BV3 Series Matte Violin Total Duration of Learning: 1+ years Started at BVMS Since: September 2021 Naomi is a new student at our studio and is still getting attuned to the requirements of practise at our school but has shown recent improvements under the tutelage of Teacher Jade. Laura, 12Plays a 4/4 BV7.8 Violin Total Duration of Learning: About 6+ years Started at BVMS Since: March 2019 Laura Started learning the violin 2+ years ago with Vivienne at a Grade 4 standard. She has improved on her confidence and technique in the violin and now learns new pieces at a much quicker rate. Laura has just completed her Grade 6 ABRSM Exam in January where she did well. Laura participated this month in the 4th Le Petit Performers’ Festival and is an active member of the Kid’s Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently working on her Grade 8 ABRSM repertoire after finishing a series of Etudes and played at the recent World Strings Day Event. Hooi NgohPlays a 4/4 Belcanto Violins Supremo Series, BV Archetier Series Bow. Total Duration of Learning: More than 10 years Started at BVMS Since: October 2019 Hooi Ngoh is currently working on achieving her Grade 8 Exam. She plays a piece without accompaniment here. Despite her busy work schedule being a mother of two young children as well, she is prepared and well practiced each week for the classes. Our aim is to finish up the Grade 8 examinations in the coming months as she has been setting this as her goal for some time. Vivienne is determined to help to her to achieve this. Cheryl, 10Playing on a Belcanto Supremo Violin Guarneri Del Gesu Model Duration of Learning: 4+ years Started at BVMS Since: 2017 Cheryl started violin when she was 7 with Vivienne, last February she did well in her Grade 5 ABRSM Examinations, and this year Grade 7 ABRSM Performance Grade Exams. As one of the earliest students, she has participated in all of Belcanto Violins Music Studios concerts both internally and externally. She has moved steadily through both technique and repertoire and has developed a deep understanding of playing and learning the violin. In this recital she plays Seitz, Friedrich Student Concerto No.4, Op.15 and other examination pieces. She has a great passion for music and has a genuine keen interest in playing the violin. She practices regularly and is always well prepared for her class.
